For events in Louisiana, you’ll see sales tax applied to the total amount charged to the attendee (‘buyer total’) based on the applicable tax rate.
If you’ve been collecting tax in Louisiana
You will no longer be able to collect tax in Louisiana since Eventgroove is now responsible to collect and remit sales tax on ticket sales.
For more information, see: Louisiana sales tax
If you or your event is tax-exempt
Tax won’t be charged to you or the attendee if your event is an athletic or entertainment event held for or by an elementary or secondary school or you qualify for any other exemption under Louisiana law.
Exemptions on Sales Tax for Admission Tickets
If your organization has an exemption certificate for the state where your venue is located, you may upload it in your 'My Account' profile. When your event is published, a third party integration will assess if the exemption applies to the sales tax on admission tickets in the relative jurisdiction. If you have a certificate uploaded and sales tax is populating on transactions, yet you have identified where an exemption is explicit to your use case, please send the appropriate documentation listed below along with the regulatory URL identifying the applicable tax code to support@eventgroove.com. Be sure to include your Event ID so that Eventgroove Support can determine if a manual exemption is allowable.
